Newsletter (October 2009): From the Heart of God's Woman

So many Christian women are stuck in a rut because of their unwillingness to forgive. To forgive themselves or to forgive someone who has wronged them; either way forgiveness does not come easy. However, having received God’s forgiveness, we are called to forgive those who have sinned against us. First Peter 4:8 says, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins (NIV).” Jesus was despised, rejected, and ridiculed. His hands and feet were pierced for our transgressions, yet while hanging on a cross, He says to His father—out of love for us: “Forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). Jesus gave his life for us, to cover our sins, yet that does not release us from the command to forgive. Let us take a moment to look at the life of Bathsheba, and what unforgiveness may have cost her, and what forgiveness and faith restored to her.
